***UPDATE 7/21/23***
Louie had surgery on Wednesday. Murrayville Vet was kind enough to let me put down about 67% of the surgery cost in order for them to go ahead and do the life-saving surgery that Louie needed.
We hoped to be able to bring him home yesterday, but his pain level was too high for Dr. Backaloo to feel comfortable letting him leave his care just yet. We did get to visit with him for a short time on Tuesday and that was really heartbreaking but at the same time, reassuring. He was obviously very uncomfortable and scared.
Since his surgery, I have only heard good things (besides him being in some post-surgery pain). We really hope today is the day that we get to bring him home!
***UPDATE 7/18/23***
LOUIE NEEDS SURGERY ASAP. Nothing has worked. Despite the optimism and hard work of our amazing team of vets and vet techs at Murrayville Veterinary Clinic, Louie will die without surgery.
I am on my way to put down every cent I have left after his long stay and 24 hour care at the hospital since Friday. But this is putting me in the hole x1,000. If anyone has it in their heart to help out my family, I would appreciate it far more than you know.
And even if you hate cats, think of it this way: the life you save may be the life of a cat, but the heartache you would save my children and I would be an enormous gift of selfless generosity and we would be forever thankful ❤️
***UPDATE 7/14/23***
Louie made it through the night, they tried to remove the blockage again this morning, AND THEY WERE SUCCESSFUL!! So that's great news! That means no surgery! No euthanasia!
But we're not out of the woods yet... He has yet to urinate on his own and because it's the weekend, he will have to be transferred to another facility if he can't produce any urine in the next few hours.

***UPDATE 7/13/23***
LOUIE went to the vet today and we had to leave him there. The bill is $900 so far. He has a blockage and they weren't able to remove it. They are giving him anti inflammatory drugs overnight and they will try again in the morning.
By the tone in the doctor's voice, I can tell that it's unlikely that they will be able to remove the blockage with a catheter. So, Louie will need an expensive surgery that I cannot afford and the only other option is euthanasia. I will have to make that decision tomorrow morning unless by some miracle I can come up with $2000.
I just keep losing. I have never been so close to a pet in my life. And I will never have another one after this. Louie is different. He's only 4 years old. I can't imagine having to put him down. I failed him. Miserably.

Hi. I'm Kelly and today I'm seeking help from the community for my irreplaceable 4-year-old male cat, Louie. Recently, Louie has been exhibiting concerning symptoms, such as not eating and not urinating nearly as much, and I can tell he is in pain. I have scoured the internet hoping to find a way to help him get better at home. According to my research, male cats are particularly prone to urinary blockages that can be caused by crystals, stones, or mucus plugs, causing complications that can even be fatal if left untreated. Urinary tract disorders are one of the most common reasons for veterinarian visits, and Louie's condition is one that requires professional intervention.
Unfortunately, I'm currently facing financial hardships that make it difficult for me to afford Louie's veterinary care, and I'm asking for your help. Louie is not only a beloved cat, but he has also become an integral part of my family, bringing joy to my children's lives. I have been a single parent since my boyfriend died suddenly just this past February. My son is 15, and my daughters are 12 and 14. We rescued Louie from the streets about 3 years ago, and he has since become a well-loved, indoor-only, chubby and happy cat.
I'm reaching out to the community to request monetary donations so that Louie can receive the necessary medical treatment. Any amount, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated and would help in Louie's fight to recover his health. Your generosity can make a significant difference, and we will be forever grateful for your kind-heartedness.
Please consider donating and sharing my story with others. Let's work together to ensure that Louie gets the medical attention he deserves, so that he can continue to bring joy to my children's lives and to others around us who have come to cherish our furry family member.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and I hope you can find it in your heart to donate and support Louie's treatment.
