I am a permanently disabled Army veteran with tours in Bagdad, Afghanistan, Qatar and Saudi. I was a combat engineer but because of my marksmen ship I was made a sniper.
Last year my appendix ruptured poisoning my internal organs. Aside from January and February I spent the whole year in the hospital, nursing home, then homeless shelter. I lost my house and car to the bank, as well as my savings, retirement...all assets have to be exhausted before being put on Medicaid. If you have ever had to put elderly parents in a nursing home then you know exactly what I am saying. I certainly qualify for housing vouchers but I can't even apply because of the back log. I have been living in the woods on a beach towel for six months now and it's just taking what health I have left. I have reached out to every government agency that I know how but with zero success. I need help. I need a residence but I can't get it. This has made me very depressed and I really don't know what to do anymore.
