My son (16) and his sister (now 18), were taken from the custody of my ex-wife by CPS after seven years of emotional and physical abuse.
As a result, they both have mental health issues, which are much more severe in my son. Anxiety, depression, panic attacks, issues controlling his emotions, you name it. The results of long-term negligence and abuse.
When I moved them to Tennessee, it was meant to be a new day for them, a fresh start where they could grow and prosper. Instead, Clarksville High School of the Montgomery County School System has repeatedly targeted, harassed, bullied, retaliated against, and assaulted my child. They're attempting to get the "undesirables" out of their school.
He has repeatedly been sent to ISS for minor infractions, and ISS in this school is a dark room in the basement of the school where you're sequestered like a prisoner.
He has been suspended for having the gall to stand up for himself when teachers tried to violate his personal space.
And now, they're trying to suspend him and send him to an alternative school because he didn't listen to a teacher who said he couldn't go to the bathroom in the middle of class. Said teacher then physically assaulted my child, and nothing seems to be being done.
These attacks have been coming from the staff and administration directly, and they are abusing their authority, trampling all over student rights, and seeking to rid themselves of what they consider problem children. They do this to so many children in this school district. In fact, this school district has one of the highest suicide rates for teens in the entire state.
I'm going to fight back, for my child and every child that comes after who suffers from mental health issues. The way they treat children with ongoing issues is unacceptable.
