My sister and her husband have resided in a 1980’s-era live-in trailer for over a decade. They have lived in areas where the temperature is over 100 in the summer and well below freezing in the winter. They have lived in places where there are monsoon-like rains, and fearsome winds. The current rig has no insulation, and low-functioning heating and air conditioning. There is no running water and the shower does not work. The rig has been patched and re-patched and when the rains come, everything they own becomes soaked. The rig is now completely falling apart and they cannot get through another winter.
Due to their health challenges, they get by on disability funds, and cannot afford to buy a better trailer. This fundraising campaign is to help them upgrade to a modern trailer that is watertight, and has functioning hookups and working heating and AC, so they can live comfortably.
If we achieve our fundraising goal, and it exceeds the amount needed for a new trailer, the remaining funds will support other health and comfort needs and medical bills.
