I’m a single professional with over 18 years of work experience who is currently navigating a very difficult period after being laid off twice. I live with my 19-year-old daughter, who is a college student, and we are doing our best to stay afloat while I continue searching for stable employment.
I have been actively applying and interviewing, while also returning to school myself to pursue a second degree and strengthen my skills so I can get back into the workforce as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, the job market has been challenging and the timeline has been longer than expected.
Because of this, my savings are nearly exhausted. I’ve had to rely heavily on credit cards just to cover basic necessities and keep the lights on, and those cards are now maxed out. My mortgage is currently on forbearance while I try to regain financial stability.
I’m also navigating this situation completely on my own. I’m single, and because I was adopted, I don’t have extended family support or a safety net to rely on during difficult times.
I’m doing everything I can to move forward — continuing my job search, improving my skills through education, and trying to rebuild stability for my daughter and myself. Any support during this temporary hardship would mean more than I can express and would help us stay afloat while I work toward getting back on my feet.
