This fundraiser is to raise money to put towards my brother Don Mills car. My brother passed away on January 14th at 5:44am at UAB hospital in Birmingham Alabama. My brother was born with many health issues yet he always tried to make the best out of every situation he was in. At the age of six years old my brother found out his one kidney was failing. Then at seven years old his kidney failed so my mother donated one of her kidneys to him. Typically donated kidneys last around 8-10 years but this kidney outlived that and lasted 23 years.
My brother was also diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinsons White Syndrome which causes a rapid heart rate. He was also a severe diabetic. Even though he had countless health issues he still loved his life and lived it to the fullest. He was a lover of cars, anything to do with cars had his attention. His favorite car was Mazda Miata's. He had the privilege of owning a few in his lifetime.
Last July my brother was diagnosed with stomach cancer, as if this wasn't enough on his plate he still continued to live through life. Shortly after he was diagnosed he ended up getting COVID around November and was admitted into the hospital around December. We had him transferred from the hospital he was at to UAB due to him being neglected while in the doctors and nurses care. When he was transferred to UAB the doctors immediately placed him on a ventilator so they had to sedate him. He then stayed on this ventilator for weeks.
On January 14th God called my brother home. He would have been 36 years old this January 24th. On January 17th we held the funeral services and he was escorted by the car club he was in. They recently named the car club,"The Don Mills Car Club" in memory of him. We will be holding more meetings soon to get together to raise money for my mother so we can pay my brothers car off for her. Any type of donation will be appreciated and will not go unnoticed.
Thank you so much
