Greetings, dear reader, my name is Adam Akola. My wife, Abby, and our two boys ( Jedidiah & Obadiah) are serving God in Bolgatanga, Ghana, West Africa, by evangelizing and running a Christian school starting in 2010. We pray that as you read this you would have an opportunity to help us and our community.
What we do...
Abby and I had separately early in our lives determined to help others back in our hometowns through school training similar to what we received. This passion in our hearts became one of the reasons we would get married. Since our marriage in January 2010, we have moved and live in Bolgatanga, the regional capital of the Upper East Region. Our ministry has been quite similar to what we were a part of growing up. Since 2010, we run a tuition-free Christian School using the ACE program. In the same building, Adam also serves as an evangelist in a small congregation that meets at our home, sets up and does personal Bible studies within the Upper East Region, and we organize outreaches wherever we see the opportunities to preach and teach the Gospel.
What the funds are for...
Right now we are trying to fundraise $6,000 for the framing of the second floor. We already have the cinder block foundation for the first floor (picture above). It will take a full $36,000 for the whole project. A very important need for us for the past twelve years has been a building where we can run the school, host the church, and also live. Praise God for His faithfulness providing one in this current house we have been renting. Considering many factors, our best option is to have a place of our own where we can operate without the troubles associated with occupying another's residence. In 2015, we started acquiring ( paying in installment) a plot of land next to the house we are renting. Over the years we molded bricks, bought building materials, and started the foundation of a two story building in June 2021. Having finished the foundation and with the walls of the first floor the purpose of this fundraiser is to help build our house/school/church building. I thank you for your help. Hey! I'm Jayme Swansons. Me and my wife Malia Swanson visited Adam and Abby Akola back in 2013 and lived with them for one month. We saw how they lived and how they ran a school. They have two children of their own but the school is mainly for all of the local kids who would not have a good education if it were not for the program that Adam and Abby run. Their philosophy was that it's better to have an impact on someone's life when they are young and still being moulded as opposed to when they are adults. Of course, they work with adults too, at the church, but you can have a greater influence on someone's life when you encounter them when they are kids and still growing up. Adam and Abby have contact with these kids for years! They teach them about Jesus, the Bible, how to interact with others in a respectful and loving way, and how to take care of their own body through exercise. Adam and Abby are a hard working couple and do a phenomenal job. As I come alongside them in this fundraiser people ask me if I donate to them and the answer is Yes! We have been giving to them monthly since 2013. We trust them and we believe in what they do. I would love to answer any questions you have. Please feel free to email me at jaymeandmalia@gmail.com
