Project: Do a Good Deed began in 2013 as my personal birthday wish. Instead of getting gifts from family and friends, I asked my loved ones to go out and purchase clothing and other essential items that I could bless the homeless with.
At that time, I never would have imagined this would turn into an annual fundraiser for the homeless, but it truly has!
I have been very fortunate to have consistent donors each year, and also additional help from companies such as Academy Sports with donations.
This year, the fundraising will occur for about two weeks, ending on Sunday, 12-13-2020. Shopping for: clothing, masks, and other essential items will take place the weekend of 12-18, and gift bags will be distributed to the homeless from 12-20 to however long it takes to get all the donations out!
(In case you’re wondering how the gifts are prepared and distributed, I group them into sizes and put together a gift bag with the items inside, labeling the size of the various gear on the outside of the bag. I then begin my journey around 71 highway and Independence Avenue—with a male and personal protection present—and work my way south, towards the plaza.
This project means a lot to me as this is now the 7th year I have dedicated my time to it. I am very grateful for every donor and donation and would like to thank you in advance for paying it forward to someone who needs your help this winter.
Below, you will see a list of items that will be purchased with the donations and gift-wrapped for the homeless. All donations are important, no matter how big or small. Thank you to everyone for reading this and for possibly donating to this very important cause, and please stay safe out there!
