My name is JC. I am 14 years old. I've been dancing and singing since I was 4 and I really want to have a career in acting. So, I found this talent thing called NYLA TALENT. I auditioned and I got a callback. They invited me to sign up for online classes on Zoom, so I did, and I paid for it myself with money I earned working on my sister's farm.
I did 4 monologues during my classes for talent scouts and they said I did really good. After my classes, I did a showcase audition with a monologue from the Grinch movie that had Jim Carrey in it, and i got a callback on that one.
I was invited to Anaheim, California to an IPOP Convention to audition for agents and managers that hire new teen actors for Disney and other projects. I was so excited. This is something I've wanted for so long. I love being able to perform and make people laugh when they're feeling down. It's my favorite thing. I think that's why I did so well with the monologue from the Grinch movie that had Jim Carrey in it.
I would love to accept this invitation and have this opportunity and experience to grow as a person and an actor. I was born in Oklahoma and haven't had a lot of opportunities to go other places. I was raised by my grandparents, my mom, and my sister. My mom is disabled and can't work now, and my grandparents are on a fixed income. I still work on my sister's farm for extra cash, but she can't afford what it would take to get me to California and back. I have a great family who will support my goals and dreams no matter what, and as an African American, with everything that's gone on in the world, I love that I can say that. But there's no way my family can send me to California before the money is due to reserve my spot.
If there is any way you could help me raise the money to go and perform at IPOP I would really love that. I know times are hard right now, but I still want to make people laugh and have a chance to be happy doing what I love to do.
