Brain freeze lasts about 30 seconds. The impact of a childhood brain tumor diagnosis lasts forever. We want to create awareness and funds to support families impacted by a childhood brain tumor diagnosis.

Each year, over 4600 children are diagnosed with a brain tumor. This diagnosis will forever change the lives of the entire family. While there have been medical advances in the treatment of a childhood brain tumor, families will never return to life as it was before. Most children will have physical, cognitive, and emotional changes after a brain tumor. For the over 27,000 survivors, their unique challenges are not often understood by others. They face higher unemployment rates than other childhood survivors and are often very socially isolated and misunderstood.

While there have been medical advances, one-third of children diagnosed will not survive.

Children's Brain Tumor Foundation is the only national organization dedicated to meeting the family's psychosocial needs from the day of diagnosis. CBTF, like other organizations, does provide vital funding for medical research. Still, we are here to meet the family's additional needs, including programs for survivors, siblings, parents, and bereaved families.

CBTF has teamed up with Friends of Jaclyn, a nonprofit started by brian tumor survivor, Jaclyn Murphy.  The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation’s mission is to improve the quality of life for children battling pediatric brain tumors and other childhood cancers and to raise awareness through their Adopt-A-Child, Safe on the Sidelines and Guardian Angel Programs.

How Can You Help:

There are many ways you can become a part of this challenge. Record a video of yourself doing the CBTF Brain Freeze Challenge, be sure to challenge at least 3 other people to beat your time, trick or number of likes!  Rally pledges to commit donations if you can beat a certain time or eat an entire Klondike bar while performing a trick. Make your own pledge and challenge those donors to share their own video!  Share your videos to social media using the hashtag #CBTFBrainFreezeChallenge we will be sharing the most unique ones.

  1. What is the most unique thing you can do while eating a Klondike bar? Can you ride a unicycle while eating one? Do a backflip while eating one? Can you eat a Klondike faster than Mini Tyrrell?
  2. How many people can you get together to eat Klondike bars for one minute? Think big. There currently is not a world record for most people eating a Klondike's together for one minute, but your team could set one? Can you get your whole swim team together? Can you get your entire football team together? Can you get your whole school together? Can you get your whole town together?
  3. How fast can you eat a Klondike? There is a world record for that, but can you beat it? Or at least set a CBTF record? The current record, according to recordsetter, is 00:24.57 min/sec.

Be sure to tag @childrensbraintumorfoundation @fojfoundation @Klondikebar and use #CBTFBrainFreezeChallenge so we can view and promote your videos!

Thank you Mini Tyrrell for your continued support in the fight against Childhood Cancers!
