Hello, so I have a huge concern about the "Justice System" in Illinois. According to multiple sources, Illinois has been leading the country in wrongful imprisonment and incarceration. The statistics and actual numbers should be a concern to all of us. Just look at the following headlines.
"According to a new annual report from the National Registry of Exonerations, Illinois recorded 38 exonerations in 2021 — 20 more than any other state — marking the fourth consecutive year it has led the nation". https://bit.ly/3Sy0qMV
For the wrongfully convicted, Illinois offers little help- "This year, the maximum amount is $222,939, payable to any prisoners wrongfully locked up for 14 or more years, according to Brad Bucher, ..." https://bit.ly/3Sv0lcy
All Illinois Exonerations Center on Wrongful Convictions- "Kenneth Adams (1978, 1996, Murder, 75 Years) · Omar Aguirre (1997, 2002, Murder, 55 Years) · Victor Alvarado (2013, 2013, Drug Possession or Sale, 6 Years) ...." Among several others. https://bit.ly/3S8Wgev
I have been trying to help these men and women cope with being wrongfully incarcerated by sending cards, letters, money for phone calls, helping family members visit and comissary (snacks, clothing, personal care items). Anything we can do to make life a bit more bearable goes a long way to helping them cope.
