Last night I got home from work and got out of my car about 10 at night and to my surprise, this beautiful sweet pit Bull came walking up to my car. No collar on and obviously mistreated and malnourished. I pet him for a minute and expected him to go home but the dog would not leave my side. So after a little bit I introduce him to my roommates dog and they play and he seems like a super sweet loving dog. So in my backyard he goes and I make plans to take him to the veterinarian the next morning. In my city by law pits have to be chipped, so im thinking I'll take him to the vet and find his owner with his chip. Well come to find out he's only a year old and has no chip, so at this point, im thinking im gonna give this dog the home he deserves. So $600 later im leaving the vet, he's had all his shots and we have antibiotics for his skin infection and medication to kill all the fleas he has, plus all the vaccinations he needs. So off to petsmart we go to spoil him the best I can and get him some treats and a collar with his name on it and my number in case he gets loose again. He's a happy dog, I get home give him some treats and his medication for the fleas and put him in the backyard to play while I go to work. I get off tonight and come home and cannot find him anywhere in my backyard; I start freaking out wondering how he would be able to get out. Next thing I know I'm calling for him and I hear a whimpering in the corner of my yard and he's on the other side of the fence unable to move. I get around there and get him and he won't put any pressure on his front paw and it is very swollen. So I start calling 24 hour vet clinics and get him into one. But I cannot go in with him so I'm sitting outside in my car and they come out to tell me they need to do x-rays and get him on pain meds and it'll be $687 for the consultation and the x-rays. So I give what I have and off they go. 2 hours later they come out to inform me the X-rays show a straight break in his front left paw that's gonna require surgery. And say it's gonna be $4000-$5000! Guys I'm trying to give this dog his forever home and a great place to live and be happy; but in no way can I afford this surgery; any help would be greatly appreciated! I know times are hard right now; but I'm gonna do whatever it takes to make sure Beau gets the life he deserves. Thanks for reading!
