Dear friends and neighbors,
I don’t typically ask for help, but I feel compelled to ask for your compassion regarding something we take for granted in Silicon Valley—access to a computer.
I would like to implore you to consider providing support to a recent Peruvian graduate student currently living Lima, Peru as she pursues her dream career in interior design.
Background:
I met Wendi Munoz in 2016 on a service trip to Lima, Peru. Wendi, at the time, was a young high school student living at an orphanage due to familial hardships.
The purpose of my college service trip was to teach short lessons and build lifelong connections with the young adults at the orphanage, in the hope that we could build self-esteem and optimism.
Wendi and I instantly connected, and we continued to communicate well after the program’s end. Throughout the years, I’ve sent letters, notebooks, and school materials in an effort to motivate and hopefully inspire her to attend college. Wendi has worked INCREDIBLY hard, and I’m so thrilled to announce that in 2021 she graduated with a degree in Interior Design from SENCICO, Peru.
Now that Wendi’s broken through a major barrier in Lima, we are now faced with finding a laptop computer for her to continue fighting to make a life for herself, and to follow her dreams. For context, the minimum wage in Lima, Peru is about 930 PEN/Month or $247.163 USD/Month, so faced with the cost of living alone, a laptop is practically impossible for her to acquire otherwise.
Wendi has made incredible strides, and it would be tragic to let access to a laptop be the reason she faces defeat. Wendi and I need your help, because computers for creating 3D renders require strong GPUs, a good deal of RAM, and a powerful processor, all of which translate to a pricey system.
