I remember Becky from Adams Jr High and Dondero HS in Royal Oak. In high school she was on the gymnastics varsity squad all 4 years, captain for 3 years and was always willing to help others perfect their gymnastic skills. Do you remember her in gymnastics or maybe you had a class with her? Well, fast forward and Becky is a loving single mom who was diagnosed with MS. MS occurs when the immune system attacks nerve fibers and myelin sheathing in the brain and spinal cord. This attack causes inflammation, which destroys nerve cell processes and myelin- altering electrical messages in the brain. As MS progresses it significantly changes the quality of a persons life. The things we take for granted, like taking a walk with our children, making the family dinner or driving may no longer be possible. Becky needs a wheelchair that will allow her the freedoms that MS has robbed from her like taking her son on field trips, going to his sporting events, and all the other things Moms love to do with their children.
Your donation would mean the world to her and her family! Any donation large or small, will help Becky with her goal of being actively involved with her family. ~ Deanna Hartwell
