Hi! My name is Londyn and I'm a 19 year old aspiring model and actress. I’m from South Carolina but I live in North Carolina. My dream since I was a little girl has been to become an actress and a model. I used to create my own skits from scratch and also memorize dialogue from Movies, and I practiced posing in the bathroom mirror. It’s been my dream for so long that when I graduated high school I decided that’s what I wanted to do: pursue my dreams.
At first I thought it would be simple enough but then I realized that most traditional colleges, at least where I live, aren’t cheap and they don't have acting and modeling programs. The schools that do have acting courses don’t offer governmental financial aid and the schools who do offer financial aid don’t have the programming or training. So, I’m on my own as I do everything I know to get my career started and that begins with training.
There are a few acting and modeling courses and coaching that I would love to be a part of so that I can jumpstart my career, but I need help paying for them. I am well aware that working a job and making my own money will provide the funding I need, however working prevents me from attending classes, networking events or training opportunities. I will continue to work but I need the flexibility to also take advantage of the many resources I have discovered here in the city of Charlotte.
I have seen firsthand how lack of funding creates an obstacle for many talented people. I realize that making it in this business can often be boiled down to one thing: money. A person can have the drive and talent to make it, but if they have to choose between pursuing their dreams and meeting their basic needs, often their dreams go unrealized. This is more often the truth in minority communities. We are underrepresented in acting and modeling because we often lack the funding, opportunities and network available to the majority.
I don’t want that to happen to me. I know that it takes a village and that no man is an island so I am asking for support and sponsorship to pursue my dreams and reach my goals, so that I am not a part of the unfortunate souls who had to lay aside their dreams because they didn't have the money to pursue them. Where talent, drive and opportunity abound, money shouldn't be allowed to be a barrier to pursuit. Help me progress beyond this barrier. Thank you.
