MAMI LUZ'S 60TH BIRTHDAY WISH ...

To raise money to for her nonprofit organization  Angeles de Luz

There’s nothing quite like Christmas, But for a lot of children in Colombia which is where Mami luz is from, face hunger, lack of clean water, homelessness and poverty on a daily basis, is the day to day they struggled with and the holiday season isn't something they get to quite celebrate like we do here, but thankfully Mami luz has been going to Colombia for more than 5 years and with help of close friends and coworkers she has been able to successfully celebrate it in a way that these kids had never done before .

Officially, Christmas traditions in Colombia begin on December 7 when Colombian people celebrate El Día de las Velitas, or Day of the Little Candles. This is an important festivity in which kids and adults join at night to light velitas (little candles) in the streets and windows. She puts up a Christmas tree, and the most of important piece of the Christmas decoration in Colombia is a Nativity scene or 'El Pesebre' On December 16 the novenas begin, a special moment of the day in which families, friends and neighbors join to pray on nine successive days, commemorating the birth of Jesus. The last novena is the evening of December 24, when everyone remembers that Jesus came to earth. These traditions are still celebrated and help people to keep in mind the real meaning of Christmas.

Luz hosts this event , and the kids attend this tradition for 9 days. During this special festivity, they sing Christmas carols, and read Bible verses, among other activities and anxiously wait for Dec 24th to unwrap their Christmas presents and enjoy warm food and desserts such Natilla y Bunuelos. Mami Luz has  volunteered her time and has funded her trip and all the costs related to this event, even though she has padrinos that send kids gifts or help donate money to ship the gifts, the group of kids keep growing.

This year she established A nonprofit  organization named Angeles De Luz dedicated to this group of kids that are grandfathered in the program, but also enhancing the lives of older people and kids with special needs.

Mami Luz is passionate about helping individuals who struggle but with your help she wants to provide tools and guidance to those that are also willing to better themselves and she is hoping that this organization opens new doors and can offer amazing opportunities for everyone involved But she can’t do it alone—join her movement to start projects and partnerships with the focal point of creating a long-lasting impact.
