Update 27th of July 2026 - we have important news to share - the sale has fallen through. Dr. Jane has recorded a video explaining the situation:
To summarize, the seller unexpectedly sold the original property to someone else, and we cannot find a way to safely complete the transaction that satisfies all parties. Thus we are moving forward with Plan B — purchasing a different piece of land and building a new hospital from the ground up. It’s a setback, but also a chance to create something stronger and fully our own. As before, you can read up in ever greater detail at Dr. Jane's superb Substack.
As mentioned in the video, donors may request a refund with no questions asked, or they may redirect their donations to this new effort. Hope you'll stick with us, and we'll keep you posted!

Update 4th of July 2026 - we have run into an unexpected complication with the property purchase which may take a few weeks to resolve, but we look forward to keeping you updated. As we say in Madagascar, no problem is impossible to solve. Please read Dr Jane Olivier's Substack for more information on her incredible clinic, her medical team and her work.
------------
I met Dr. Jane Oliver through Substack: Bush Doctor | Dr Jane Olivier - MBChB, and her work moved me so deeply that I created this donation page to help keep her clinic alive.
To cut to the chase:
"Our hospital is at risk of closing on the 30th of June, if we can’t buy our land for €350,000 ($407,000). Recently I received a non-negotiable 6 months' notice for the property we have been renting for my clinic for the past 11 years."
Today, I’m reaching out with an open heart. This clinic has always been self-sustaining and has never fundraised before—but they are now facing a one-time emergency too great to manage alone. They need your help.
Please take a moment to read her story, including all the details about the upheaval with the plot of land: https://drjaneolivier.substack.com
Dr Jane and her clinic
Dr Jane and her clinic serve one of the poorest regions in the world—yet what she has built, and the lives she has touched, are extraordinary.
For many families, her clinic is the only place to find care, comfort, and a chance at healing. Additionally, her clinic provides jobs and livelihoods for 50 employees, strongly supports their annual education and development, and pays for their children's schooling.
Every day, she and her team show up for people who have nowhere else to turn.
Even a small donation can help Dr Jane continue providing essential care to those who need it most—ensuring that no one in crisis is turned away. Time is critical.
🌸Hope for Every Patient
In a small hospital running from two converted houses, care continues against all odds.
The buildings are worn, supplies are limited, and the team works through epidemics, pandemics, and exhaustion—yet patients keep coming, hoping for help.
Your generosity is the light that makes this possible. If you, your family or your organization have a budget this year for an established, trusted community health care project which has been running for 14 years in one of the poorest countries in the world please consider helping them to buy their land for $53/m2.
Your contribution will secure their land which supports essential primary health care services and a social enterprise business model, employs and trains dedicated medical professionals, and brings hope to those who need it most.
If for any reason the sale does not go through (less than 0,0000001% chance of this happening) we will reimburse your donation less the transfer fees.

The History
Founded in 2012 by Dr Jane Olivier and her husband Jean-Pierre, Centre Medical de Taolagnaro began under a guava tree and has grown into a vital community lifeline. Built on a self-sustaining model, thanks to Joachim Kuhlmann Stiftung the clinic funds the following free programmes:
- Family planning
- Antenatal care
- Postnatal care
- Childhood vaccinations
- Malaria treatment & other primary health care
- Primary health care to our local prison
Whenever possible, they also provide free hospital care to patients who cannot afford treatment—often making the difference between life and death.
Hospitalization here costs just $2 per day or night—yet even that is beyond reach for many. For 14 years, this clinic has done extraordinary work with very little. With your support, it can continue.
